How We Got Here
Stone Insurance was founded in 1988 by Adeline Stone. She bought her first book of business and, from there, built up her client base. Adeline and husband Doug, worked together to acquire clients, keep their honey farm running, and also raise their 4 children, Devona, Delori, Denise, and Duane. As a pioneer woman in the industry, Adeline provided quality insurance and customer service to her clients, which Stone Insurance still prides themselves on today. As Adeline and Doug's kids grew older, a few of them took interest in the insurance world. First Denise, who bought the business from her mom in January 2000.
Denise Soroka built up Stone Insurance even further, expanding their avenues to specialty markets and more complex clients. Her and husband Tharen, balanced Stone Insurance, TDS Forestry, and also their two children, Branden and Daken. Denise paved the way with the insurance companies, making friends and building relationships wherever she could. These relationships are still strong, 30 years later. When Denise was ready to step back from the insurance world and focus on their forestry company, her brother, Duane Stone, stepped up to the plate.
Duane bought the business from Denise in 2008 and has since made it into the company we see today. With many specialty markets, and impeccable customer service, Stone Insurance has continued to prove that small town brokerages can keep up with the big dogs. Duane has had a prevalent hand in community funding and donations throughout his time with Stone Insurance, along with wife, Andrea, and two kids Dacey and Daxon, volunteering their time and resources towards betterment of the town. When Duane was ready to spend more time with his young family, and start farming, he passed the torch to his nephew, Daken Soroka.
Daken is no new face to the community of Manning, having worked summers at Stone Insurance since 18, while taking his Business Management Diploma at Northwestern Polytechnic (formerly Grande Prairie Regional College). Daken has built a community presence and learned from his predecessors on how to run a successful and client-based business. Daken is no stranger to taking on responsibility, as he builds a young family with his wife Alexandra Soroka and two children Waylen & Violet.
In February of 2022, Stone Insurance made a strategic partnership with Navacord. After Duane stepped down, Daken stepped into the spotlight to offer more products and services to clients. Stone Insurance now offers a local touch with national strength through the partnership with Lloyd Sadd and Navacord.
